Victorian Era Silver Plated Teapot Ornate & Detailed by John Round & Son
This Elegant Victorian era silver plated teapot was produced by John Round & Son (JR & S) of England sometime between 1863 and 1897 (if my information is correct). This teapot is a real work of art, the intricate detail makes this quite a show piece that is worthy of display on the finest of tables.
The silver plating on this teapot has sustained some wear over the many decades of use and polishing. Some of the plating has worn off to reveal the gold color of the base metal (probably brass or copper), this has only enhanced the character of this piece. The teapot does appear to have been used, there is some staining inside and light scratches on the exterior, but there are no dents. There is a slight bit of movement in the handle, it is sturdy and strong, but the French ivory may have shrunk just a bit to allow for the movement.
The dimensions of this teapot are 10 3/8” from spout end to handle end x 4 ¾” wide x 6” high.
This teapot is a real survivor and is ready to provide many more years of service (if desired) or give it the royal treatment and display it prominently in your showcase.
